Emily practices in the areas of employment law and insurance defense. Emily has substantial experience representing both private and public sector employers in state and federal civil suits involving Title VII, the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and common law tort actions related to employment. She has obtained numerous judgments in favor of employers, including unanimous defense verdicts in two employment discrimination jury trials. She also counsels employers on various matters by providing strong policies, handbooks, and contracts.
In addition, Emily has experience representing individuals, companies, and governmental entities in various practice areas including personal injury defense, premises liability defense, education law, and general appellate practice.
Emily has represented clients in state and federal courts throughout Kentucky and Indiana, and in appellate matters before the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Kentucky Supreme Court and the Kentucky Court of Appeals. She has also successfully represented clients in administrative actions before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights.
